Kenneth Ekornes is educated from the Conservatory of Music in Kristiansand, Norway. He plays with Mari Boine, FØYK, Trio de Janeiro and Desafinado.
Ekornes has explored Norwegian folk music as well as Latin rhythms and American jazz thoroughly, and he has developed a unique approach to grooving and drum sound on the basis of this.
He has a great role in several Sámi musical productions. His latest contribution to a Sámi production is in the CD Yoikur, by Iŋgor Ántte Áilu Gaup – Áilloš (2008).
